Dave Nelsen believes that every company is a technology company. Even if you don’t sell a technological product or service, technology is how we get it done … with greater differentiation and higher profits. Dave is here to raise the TQ (technology quotient) of businesspeople. He’s delivered his five acclaimed tech talks to more than 1,500 companies and associations.
Dave has been recognized as E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year, as Vistage Speaker of the Year, and as TEC Canada #1 Top Speaker. You might also be interested to know that Dave makes award-winning red wine.

Dave has written two books on innovation:
Dave got his engineering degree (MS Operations Research) at Stanford University in the early 80’s and spent his first career decade at Bell Labs solving the quote/unquote “Steve Jobs problem” … developing Signaling System 7 to defeat the digital “blue box” that Jobs and Woz created to make free long-distance phone calls. In the beginning, Jobs and Woz were just hackers.
In 2005, two years before Steve Jobs launched the first iPhone, Dave founded TalkShoe.com, introducing at least 10 million people to podcasting. Back then there were no iPhones, just iPods. That’s why it’s called podcasting.
Because he’s been a successful CEO in multiple businesses, Dave Nelsen addresses problems from a return-on-investment (ROI) perspective. Dave is a successful entrepreneur, professional speaker, radio personality, and author.
Dave has founded and run several companies including social media pioneer TalkShoe. He has raised more than $70,000,000 in Federal, angel investor, and venture capital funding. Most importantly, as a CEO himself, he has successfully tackled in his own businesses many of the same challenges his clients are now facing.
Dave co-founded and was CEO of CoManage Corp. until selling it to Canadian firm Syndesis after seven years. During this period, he was recognized by Ernst & Young as Entrepreneur of the Year. Mr. Nelsen subsequently founded TalkShoe, which immersed him in the emerging social networking and social media phenomenon. During this period, he was recognized as CEO of the Year by the Tech Council, a leading US technology trade association.
Dave is a founding member of Vistage group CE 676, part of the world’s largest CEO network. He speaks at more than one hundred corporate and industry association events each year.
Dave Nelsen chaired the Audit and Compensation Committees of NASDAQ-traded NPSI. He is past Board Chairman of the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) and has served on the Board of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra among several other non-profits.
